High scores returned from St Valentine’s day golf

A healthy field ensured that some good scores would be returned in the fourball better ball Valentine’s Day event, but nobody could have anticipated just how many high scores there would be; a total of 10 pairs achieved 40 points or more.

The frosty start did not interfere greatly with the golf and as the day progressed, the sun appeared and the scores reflected the sunny conditions. The winning pair of Alan Morrison and John Sowton scored 46 points, one more than second placed Marc Mountney and John Battson. Third home was the father and son pairing of Wayne and James Ross with 44 points.

Just as popular as the golf was the Valentine’s Day Carvery and dance that followed; more than 130 members and their guests attended.
