It was a full field at Frinton Golf Club, on Sunday, 1st December, for the annual Turkey Trot, the ever-popular annual pre-Christmas foursomes event.

Thankfully the predicted rain held off until almost everyone was in. Since this is traditionally a mixed event, the official winners were Deborah Tanner and Wayne De'ath, with a respectable score of 39 stableford points. Simon O’Brien and Claire Vaughan were second in the mixed category, on count back with 35 points, just ahead of Gavin Cowell and Caroline Grey. In the men’s category Ian Robinson and Peter Irwin were first, on count back, with 35 points, ahead of Max and Mike Leonardi, and Kevin Maleary and Mark Smith, all with 35 points.

The prize vouchers were generously donated by Wrights the Butcher.

The ladies played in a foursomes competition on Tuesday, 26th November and Diane Gerrard and Susie Gregory won it with 23 points. Jan Harrison and Mary Johnson had 20 points to finish second. Helen Barr and Viv Stansfield were in third place with 18 points.

The monthly Friday stableford, open to all Havers Course members, was held on Friday, 29th November - and what a difference a day made. After a record rainfall of 17 mm on Thursday, the players delighted in bright sunshine, although it was a bit soggy underfoot. Peter Morris won it with a great score of 40 points. Three men finished with 37 points, with Kevin Smith awarded second place on count back, ahead of Peter Irwin and Chris Paxon.

And finally, the Seniors held their Christmas Bonanza last week which Mike Redden won with 38 points. Raymond Burkwood and Peter Dabbs both had 36 points, with Burkwood awarded second place on count back.
