Ladies match takes place in fine weather, but bitter wind

Lady Captain v Lady Secretary Match took place on Tuesday, 12th November in fine weather, sunshine but a bitter wind. Six pairs and two singles teed off for 15 holes Greensomes Matchplay, using the 1st and 4th tees in order to get us all in for Wayne’s freshly cooked ham, egg and chips, which was very welcome and enjoyed by all.

David Joshua, together with Julie Fennelly, used the occasion to introduce Julie to the 100 Club draw procedure - sadly none of the ladies were winners.

The Lady Captain announced the result, saying she would rather have played against The Secretary, which would have been tough even with one hand behind her back, instead of Yvonne’s substitute, Marilyn Clark, who going down the 17th two up decided enough was enough and finished us off! I should explain, Yvonne Davies, our Secretary, is out of action with a broken arm, but fortunately joined us for a fork lunch! The Lady Captain regrettably only had to thank one pair of her team, Louise Wood and Lynne Smith, for their win!
